ICAD #11

On an index card stamp the circles and butterflies (both are from Fiskars) with Archival Ink Jet Black.  Draw over the circles with Distress Markers and with a waterbrush blend the color out using the Distress Bleeding Technique.  Color the edge with Wilted Violet Distress Markers and blend out with a waterbrush.  Dry with a hair dryer.

One Little Craft Tag Challenge #145 and Dragon's Lair Designs Challenge for May

Adhere one layer of polka dotted tissue to a mixed media tag and let dry.  On mixed media paper, Stamp hat and dress (Dylusions) with Archival Ink Jet Black.  Color with distress marker and blend with water.  Stamp belt and top of hat on green scrapbook paper and cut out.  Piece the green paper onto the dress and hat.  With a needle and thread gather the tulle into a skirt.  With Fabric Tac attach the tulle to dress.  Adhere the hat and the dress to the tag.  Adhere the buttons on the hat and the belt. Adhere light blue washi tape down one side of the tag.  

This tag was created as an entry into the Dragon's Lair Designs Challenge for May.  The theme was Fashion Action.  

One Little Craft Tag Challenge #73

On watercolor paper create a background with Ken Oliver Color Bursts using the watercolor technique.  Let dry.  Punch cherries out of vintage dictionary page and color with distress markers.  Adhere to the tag.  Adhere washi tape.

On a watercolor tag, create a background with Stencil Outline Wash Technique with Distress Markers.  Activate with water and let dry.  Stamp image (Dina Wakley) with Archival Ink Jet Black.  Doodle with Stabilo All Pencil.

On a shipping tag, stamp flower images(Dylusions) several times using Archival Ink Jet Black.  Color the images with distress markers.  Spray with water to create a bleeding effect.  Let dry naturally.  Adhere glitter using Dimensional Magic in a fine liner bottle.  Adhere sticker and sequins.  

One Little Tag Craft Challenge #272

On a shipping tag, create background using an ink blowing technique with Dr. Ph Martin's Hydrus Ink in two colors.  Let dry,  Stamp large sea shell stamp (Stamp Zia) in Jet Black Archival Ink.  On drawing paper, stamp sentifment and mermaid image (Graphic 45) in Jet Black Archival Ink.  Tear around the image and quote.  Color the mermaid image by using distress markers as watercolor paint.  Spritz with distress marker using Tim Holtz Spritzer.  Adhere images and quote to shipping tag.  

One Little Tag Craft Challenge #151

Using a baby wipe apply Dylusions paints to a manila tag.  Colors used were London Blue and Cut Grass.  Let dry.  Using black and white acrylic paint, stamp circles with two different drink lids.  Let dry.  On white cardstock stamp peacock scene with Archival Ink Jet Black.  Color with distress markers in peacock feather, dusty concord, broken china, mowed lawn, and spice marmalade.  Spray with water until color run.  Press dry towel to stop bleeding.  Let dry.  Cut out.  Using photo corners from Martha Stewart Crafts to adhere stamped image to the tag.  Adhere love sticker to mini tag and then adhere tag to the larger tag.  Emphasis love sticker with Dimensional Magic.  Let dry.  

One Little Tag Craft Challenge #145

On a manila tag, stamp main focal images(Stampington) with Distress Ink Vintage Photo.  Mask.  Stamp Feather(Inkadinkado) in the same ink and mask. Stamp fleur-de-lis (unknown) in same ink and mask.  Stamp text (Rubber Soul)  in the same ink.  Using distress markers highlight areas.  With a waterbrush, activate the ink to create some blending.  Let dry.  Stamp sentiment with Archival Ink Jet Black.

Craft Warehouse Card Swap May 2014

This Tuesday is the meeting of Craft Warehouse Stamp Club. This month card swap theme is the three B s - bees, birds or babies. Now I always thought it took the birds and bees to get a baby but I don't think that's what they meant. Since I am from Portland originally I wanted to put a bird on it.  Thanks Portlandia.  

This is an old technique from Technique Junkies Newsletter called Bleached Wash Technique.  but I think Bleach Out Markers makes more sense. The TJ newsletter article was written a few years ago  before distress markers were available  but I found distress markers work great with this technique, even better than just regular water based markers.  . It's the technique used on the background paper. 

Ingredients

Small Cup of Household Bleach.        Rubber Stamps (bird, hello, chevron)

Recipe

1.  Stamp image with waterproof archival ink.  I used Ranger Archival in jet black with Wendy Vecchi flower stamp.

2.  Using water based markers color the images.  Don't worry about staying in the lines and use lots of ink.  I actually colored each image twice.   I used distress markers because they are reactive with water which is important in the next step.

3.  Spray with water so the ink runs.

4. Color images with distress markers again and spray with water again.  You want lots of color to run.  Dry with a heat gun.  

5.  Using bleach and a small paint brush, bleach out the images so they are void of most color.  If you let the bleach set it will continue to be reactive so once the bleach has worked to your liking heat it with heat gun to stop process

6.  Using as a background, round the corners and attach to the blank card.  Die cut the purple and pink paper.  Stamp both with chevron using versamark ink.  Stamp sentiment and bird on the purple piece.  Layer them together.  Tie pink bakers twine around the piece.  Apply foam dots on the back of the pink panel and attach to the bleached out piece.
