Acrylic Paint Watercolor Resist Technique

This technique has been one that has been around for years.  Again it is a simple one with supplies that are readily available.

Ingredients

Substrate - I used a shipping tag

Acrylic Paint or Gesso - I used white for high contrast.  You can use cheap acrylic paint for this as long as it is opaque.

Stamps - Any stamp will work.  I used some architectual foam stamps I have had for years. 

Watercolor Medium - I used watercolor crayons

Paper towel or cloth

Heat gun or Patience

Steps
1.  Stamp the acrylic paint on to the substrate.  Wash your stamps immediately.  Let dry or use a heat tool to dry before moving on to the next step.

3.  Paint watercolor over the substrate.  I smeared the watercolor crayons and then activated with water.

4.  Pat some of the color off with a paper towel.

On a shipping tag stamp squares with a sponge and gesso.  Let dry.  Smear watercolor crayons over the tag, blend and activate with water.  Apply washi tape.  Stamp images (Birds are RubberMoon Stamps) with Archival Ink Jet Black.  Stamp words on a scrap of decorative paper and adhere to tag.  Apply round stickers.

Spread gesso onto a shipping tag through a stencil (Tim Holtz) and let dry.  Spray with dylusions sprays (Cut Grass) and let dry.  Stamp image (Lost Coast Designs) with Archival Ink Jet Black on tissue paper.  Cut out and adhere to tag.  Print out quote on P-Touch and adhere to tag.  

One Little Tag Craft Challenge. #264

Apply white acrylic paint through a stencil (Tim Holtz) onto a manila tag.  Let dry.  Spray with color spray (Recollections) and let dry.  With black acrylic paint and a stencil (Dina Wakley) stencil the woman's image.  Let dry.  Paint wood veneer bird blue and speckle with white paint, let dry.  Adhere bird, washi tape and stickers to tag.

On a shipping tag stamp several flourishes with gesso and let dry.  Spray the tag with Dylusions Spray in Calypso Teal.  Using a paper towel dab at spot to create depth and then let dry.  Adhere decorative cupcake liner to the tag.  Let dry.  Create a shadow around the liner with water soluble graphite.  Stamp sentiment on tag. Stamp flower on white tissue paper, cut out and adhere to tag.  Let dry.  The stamps are from Unity and were stamps with Archival Ink Jet Black.

Using a foam stamp and acrylic paint stamp image on a manila tag.  Let dry.  Spray with Dylusion Sprays in Calypso Teal and Cut Grass to create a resist.  Let dry.  Apply napkin onto tag.  Apply gemstone to tag. 

One Little Tag Craft Challenge #33

 

This tag was created to honor the groundhog that predicted spring would be here soon.  

Violet acrylic paint was applied to a manila tag through a stencil (company unknown).  Once dried Dylusions Spray in Cut Grass was sprayed creating a resist.  With a white china marker the flowers were outlined.  Sentiment was created using rub on letters and a vintage book page.

One Little Tag Craft Challenge #20

White acrylic paint was stamped on manila tag and was allowed to dry.  Orange watercolor was brushed over the acrylic paint.  The large music image (Technique Junkies) was stamped over the tag using Archival Ink Jet Black.  Clown image (Oxford Impressions) was stamped on tissue paper with Archival Ink Jet Black and then glued to scrapbook paper then adhered to tag.  Three gems were adhered to the top.
