Lost Coast Postcard

Cut mixed media paper to 3.5 inches by 5 inches.  Blend Broken China Distress Oxides on the paper and let dry.  Stencil stars (Dylusions) on the postcard with Fossilized Amber Distress Oxides and let dry.  Stamp the image (Lost Coast Designs) with Archival Ink Jet Black.  Cut out vintage text tiles and adhere them to boarder of the postcard.  Emphasis with a Stabilo Marks All Pencil and blend with water.  Let dry.  Stamp starburst (Judikins) with Faded Jeans Distress Oxides.

ICAD #17

Adhere decorative paper to an index card.  Edge the index card with Faded Jeans Distress Oxides.  Stamp word (Stampendous) with Archival Ink Jet Black.  Stamp on a tag with text stamp (Hampton Arts) with two colors of Distress Oxides and blend with a stencil brush.  Tear tag and adhere to index card.  Stamp the focal image on vintage text page with two colors of Distress Oxides and Archival Ink Jet Black.  Spray image after each application of Distress Oxides and dry. This is the Distress Bleeding Technique.  Tear around the image and adhere to the index card.

One Little Craft Tag Challenge #167

On a bristol tag, blend Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide and stamp the blending tool on the tag to create a bokeh effect.  Stencil Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide through sequin waste and stamp the beverage ring (Viva Las Vegas) with the same ink.  Stamp the gas bird image and the barbed wire image (both from Viva Las Vegas) with Archival Ink Jet Black.  Collage sequin waste, bingo card, washi tape and decorative paper and adhere to the tag.

ICAD #3 and 7 Kids Challenge

Using a blending tool and two colors of distress oxide, color an index card.  Splatter with water and the dab with a paper towel.  Dry with a heat gun.  Stamp script stamp in Distress Oxide Broken China.  Stamp tile with Distress Oxide Cracked Pistachio.  Stamp flowers and butterfly with Archival Ink Jet Black.  All Stamps are from Stampington.

One Little Craft Tag Challenge #151 and 7 Kids Challenge

On a bristol tag, blend two colors (Spiced Marmalade and Fired Brick) of Distress Oxide.  Flick water on the tag and mop up with a paper towel to create splotches on the tag.   Dry with a heat gun.  Stamp the text (Hampton Arts) in Pistachio Distress Oxide and dry with a heat gun.  Stamp harlequin (Inkadinkado) with Broken China Distress Oxide and dry with a heat gun.  Repeat the flicking of water to create more water splotches.  Stamp the word (Hero Arts) and the couple (Stampotique) in Archival Ink Jet Black.  Color text weight paper with Barn Door Distress Stain and dry.  Punch out hearts.  Adhere hearts to the tag and emphasis with Dimensional Magic.  Let dry.

This tag was the second creation of the One Little Craft Tag Challenge - Orange.  This tag was entered into the Challenge at 7 Kids.  The theme was anything goes but you must use some supplies from the 7 Kids Store.  Items from the store that are included on this tag are Distress Oxides and Archival Ink 

One Little Craft Tag Challenge #133

On a manila tag create a background using Distress Oxide Inks and the Watercolor Smooshing Technique.  Let dry.  Using Archival Ink stamp all the images on the tag.  The face is from Dina Wakley Media and the rest of the images are from Tim Holtz.  Color the features of the face and the heart with Inktense blocks and activate with water.

Distress Bleeding Technique Tutorial

Ingredients

Watercolor Paper

Distress Ink* - In this tutorial Distress Oxides were used. Colors Cracked Pistacio, Broken China and      Wilted Violet  

Water in a Spray Bottle

Archival Ink - Jet Black

Hair Dryer or Heat Gun

MISTI Stamping Tool

Optional - Wink of Stella Pen

Steps

1.  Using a MISTI Stamping Tool stamp the image (Tim Holtz) with Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide. 

2.  Spray the image with water.  Tip the paper to let the color bleed in different directions.  Dry with a hair dryer or heat tool.  The image must be completely dry before the next step.

3.  Continuing to use the MISTI, over stamp the image with Broken China Distress Oxide Ink and spray with water.  Repeat the tipping to create drips and runs of color.  Dry with a heat tool or hair dryer.  Repeat this step with Wilted Violet Distress Oxide Ink.  You can used as many colors of ink as you would like to.  I find three to be a nice balance.


Optional Step - Color the main image with Wink of Stella pen

4. Using the MISTI, over stamp the image in Archival Ink Jet Black.

Here are several other examples of this technique being used.

This example skips the optional step and the 4th step.

*Distress Ink and Distress Oxides are specially formulated to bleed so they work they best for this technique.  You can use other water base dye ink but the bleed out will not be as true color as distress inks.  

One Little Craft Tag Challenge #122

On a mixed media tag, scribble blue Scribble Sticks and activate with water.  Let dry.  Stamp the seahorse (Tim Holtz) with Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide and spray with water.  Tip the tag in different directions to cause the ink to run.  Dry with a heat gun or hair dryer.  Stamp the image with Broken China and spray with water and tip the tag.  Dry again.  Stamp with Wilted Violet and repeat with the water and tipping.  Dry thoroughly and then paint the image with Wink of Stella.  Stamp the image with Archival Ink Jet Black.  Stamp the letters (Stampendous) in Archival Ink Jet Black.  With washi tape create the woven accent.  

One Little Craft Tag Challenge #120

On a manila tag, create a background with three colors of Distress Oxides using the Watercolor Smooshing Technique.  Let dry.  Stamp elephant (Sweet Pea)  and phrase (Stampendous) with Archival Ink Jet Black. Embellish with Recollections Paint Pens.  

One Little Craft Tag Challenge #117

On a bristol paper tag, spray Recollections Spray through a swiss dot stencil.  Let dry.  Create a wash over the card using Watercolor Smooshing Technique and Dr. Ph Martins Hydrus Inks.  Let dry.  On mixed media paper, blend Distress oxide ink, sprinkle water and then dry with a heat gun.  Over stamp the big circles and script (Dina Wakley) with Distress Oxide inks and heat set.  Stamp bird (Dina Wakley) with Archival Ink Jet Black.  Cut out, layer with vintage dictionary text and adhere to tag.  Emphasis with Stabilo All Pencil and staple sequins to the tag.

One Little Craft Tag Challenge #113

On a black tag, create a background with three colors of Distress Oxides using the watercolor smooshing technique and heat set.  Adhere newspaper clipping, washi tape and rhinestone embellishment on to the tag.  

One Little Craft Tag Challenge #106

 On a manila tag create a background with Distress oxide in three colors using Watercolor smooshing technique.  Let dry.  Repeat the watercolor smooshing and distress oxide on mixed media paper.  Let dry.  Adhere the pink cut out paper to tag.  Let dry.  Stamp the rabbit images (Crafty Individuals) on a prepared mixed media paper and cut to size.  Add to vintage text page.  Stitch along the top of each panel with baker's twine.  Adhere panels to tag.  Adhere gems with Dimensional Magic.

One Little Craft Tag Challenge #105

Drag the Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide pad along the side of the manila tag, using direct to paper technique.  Stamp the script stamps (A Stamp in the Hand) repeated with Distress Oxide in Worn Lipstick.  Splatter water on the tag to create watermarks.  With Broken China Distress Oxide create splatters using the watercolor smooshing technique.  Let dry.  Stamp images (Echo Park) in Archival Ink Jet Black.  

One Little Craft Tag Challenge #102

On a watercolor tag, create a background with three colors of Distress Oxide Ink using Ink Layering Technique.  Stamp all them images with Archival Ink Jet Black.  The legs are from Dylusions, flowers are from Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 stamps and the sentiment is from Hero Arts.  

One Little Craft Tag Challenge #96

Using Watercolor Smooshing Technique, create a back ground with Distress Oxides.  Let dry.  Stamp the base of the layering family (Hampton Arts) with Recollections Ombre Ink in blue.  Over stamp with MementoLuxe White.  Cut circles of text paper and adhere to tag.  Tear a piece of vintage dictionary page and adhere to tag.  Highlight with Art C paint pen.  Let dry.

One Little Crft Tag Challenge #91

 

On a watercolor tag, stamp dot pattern (Tim Holtz) several times in Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide and spray with water to create a bleed.  Dry with a heat tool or hair dryer.  Repeat with Cracked Pistachio and Spiced Marmalade.  Dry between colors.  Dry several lines with a Pitt pen.  Stamp sentiment  and fool (Cherry Pie Stamps) with Archival ink Jet Black.

On a watercolor tag, blend distress oxide inks in two colors.  Stamp on tag with script (A Stamp in the Hand) with water and heat set.  Stamp doily (Waffle Flower) and sentiment (Dylusions) with Archival Ink Jet Black.  Embellish with sequins.
